Puckedelics Keep Rolling with 3-1 Win Over the Lodge

The Puckedelics remain the team to beat in our local circuit, extending their red-hot start to the season with a commanding 3-1 victory over the Lodge on Tuesday night. Entering the game as the league leaders, the Puckedelics showed exactly why they’re sitting at the top of the standings, utilizing a potent offensive attack and a suffocating defensive effort to keep the Lodge at bay for the majority of the evening.

The Puckedelics wasted no time asserting their dominance. Less than two minutes into the game, Brett Mooney ignited the lamp, set up by some slick passing from Triston Wilson and Travis Moore. The Lodge looked a bit shell-shocked by the early speed of the league leaders, and Wilson made them pay again at the 5:53 mark of the first period. With a solo effort that would make a highlight reel proud, Wilson wired home his first of the night, giving the Puckedelics a comfortable 2-0 cushion heading into the first intermission.

If the first period was a test, the second was a clinic. The Lodge struggled to find their footing in the neutral zone, constantly running into a brick wall of Puckedelics defenders. The pressure finally culminated in a second goal for Wilson at 4:57, once again capitalizing on a helper from Travis Moore.

“We just tried to keep the puck moving like a hot potato,” Wilson joked after the game. “If you stop moving, the Lodge defenders start closing the gaps. We wanted to make sure they were chasing shadows all night.”

The Lodge showed signs of life in the final frame, determined to spoil the shutout bid. Their persistence paid off at 5:25 when Braden Trinka finally broke the goose egg, tucking away a beautiful setup from Jered Pieschke and Jonathon Anderson. The goal injected a surge of energy into the Lodge bench, but the Puckedelics’ defensive structure held firm, turning away every subsequent attempt to mount a comeback.

While the offense grabbed the headlines, the defensive performance was the real story for the Puckedelics, who effectively neutralized the Lodge’s transition game throughout the middle of the contest. The result keeps the Puckedelics firmly cemented in the #1 spot, bringing their record to a stellar 4-0-1.

For the Lodge, the loss drops them to 1-3-1, leaving them with some homework to do before their next tilt. As for the Puckedelics? They’re playing like a team that’s allergic to losing, proving that if you want to be the best, you’ve got to go through them first.
